I had never come across motivational speaker Les Brown before but I'm so glad I did. Wow, what an inspirational speaker he is. Check out some Tony Robbins videos as well. Also don't forget to have a look at some Toastmasters International Contests. These speakers have gone through several competitions to get to the final so they are good!Jibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-33500632396587041102011-10-20T16:09:00.000-07:002011-10-20T16:41:30.652-07:00The best public speakers in the worldI have just written a hubpage on the best public speakers in the world - my top 10. Specifically she was talking about voice variety, pitch and tone. If you listen to the great public speakers in the world they use their voice as their instrument keeping the audience engaged and hanging onto every word. Great tip for the day!Jibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-8936820234251093252011-10-19T23:51:00.000-07:002011-10-19T23:51:38.193-07:00Best ways to overcome fear of public speakingJibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-80777250766501998332011-10-19T22:45:00.000-07:002011-10-19T22:45:05.499-07:00The golden rule for public speakingJibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-72801749102087910912011-10-19T22:02:00.000-07:002011-10-19T22:08:38.447-07:005 ways to overcome your fear of speaking in publicMost people hate the thought of speaking in public. But...there's some really effective ways to get over your nerves, Here's my top ways to overcome the fear
5. Breathe: Make sure your breathing is regular because it can affect your pronunciation and stage movement.
4. Record yourself: Use your phone to record yourself or better yet use a video. Get feedback from others on how you sound.
3. Think of the worst case scenario: Really, what is the worst that can happen?
2. Activate your Go System: get fired up by exercising, jumping, running, laughing or listening to hyped music
1. Be passionate: Whatever you're speaking on make sure you speak with passion and conviction. This will make your speech appealing and worth listening to. I have a favourite saying which fits perfectly for speaking in public: Feel the fear and do it anyway!
Check out these tips in more detail here: Overcome fear of speaking in publicJibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-28393644059847086892011-10-19T20:36:00.000-07:002011-10-19T20:41:06.141-07:00Being evaluated<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5SLF13Nqt_0QclXOnBCjq59NdXjI2mFLsfQFK6rEiGdvuRAXHBxcxnRmctamhEFC6W_YZOIZAnQnZZhfCq7smkZhRUTLFIiY46h8s0kAOOYWAFrqWMFFcFX2aI-sXxAsC-Bj5ZcRBPHmB/s320/Michael-McGarry1-200x200.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665413661371479970" />
This was at the District 69 Toastmasters Conference in Cairns earlier this year. I was the Test Speaker for the Evaluation Contest which gave a tremendous opportunity to develop my skills. If you ever give a presentation always ask for feedback on what people thought. Ask them specifics such as "Was I clear?" "Did you understand the purpose of my talk?" "Were my gestures strong and emphasising key points?" Your development as a speaker will be stalled if you don't get this type of feedback whenever you can.Jibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-20759873874441420602011-10-19T20:11:00.000-07:002011-10-19T20:13:37.811-07:00Area 32 Toastmasters ConferenceAs a member of Mt Sheridan Toastmasters (Cairns Queensland) I recently had the pleasure of attending and competing in the Area 32 Conference. I competed in the International Competition and Table Topics. There were some great speakers who presented on the day and a very informative and entertaining educational session. I'm lucky enough to progress to the Divisional Conference which will be in Mackay in March 2012, Wish me luck!Jibberjabbahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04170938113329805797noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256499552685268989.post-19183654911967924932011-10-19T20:06:00.000-07:002011-10-19T20:11:05.199-07:00Learn from the best public speakersHaving trouble knowing where to start to be a better public speaker?
